Mirpur: Wait for Sachin Tendulkar's elusive international hundredth ton, grew longer as the master blaster was dismissed early against Lanka.
Desperate to get to that milestone, Sachin would've been expecting to play a long innings on Tuesday at Mirpur, but a high full toss from Lakmal brought a sudden and premature end to Sachin's innings.
After Tendulkar's departure, Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli brilliantly rescued the team and consolidated Indian innings.
The duo played sensible cricket and took singles and twos. First, Kohli hit consecutive hundred against Sri Lanka and later Gambhir completed his 10th ODI ton. However, they fell soon after scoring hundred. Maharoof dismissed Kohli (108) and Gambhir (100) in an over.
Both the players added over 200 runs for the third wicket partnership.
After quick dismissal, Dhoni and Raina arrived in the middle and started scoring with quick pace. Dhoni smashed unbeaten 46 runs off 26 while Raina was not out for 30 runs.
However, Sri Lanka did the good job by restricting India for 304 runs. At one stage, India was looking to cross 320-330 when Gambhir and Kohli were in the middle.
For Lanka, Maharoof took two wickets while Lakmal claimed one wicket. For more info log on to: http://youtube.com/starnews
